Julieta Munoz
Fresh off a sold out collaboration with LidsHD, we’re featuring Julieta Munoz as the first feature in our ‘Collectors Series.’ Many people get caught up on what it means to be a collector. Some would said you need a certain number of caps in your collection, while others may say it’s about the sentimental value. We believe the term collector spans a wide array and we’re looking forward to highlighting the diverse community of fitted hat lovers with our new series. So with that, let’s get to know more about Julieta.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and when you fell in love with fitted caps?
My name is Julieta Munoz. I came to the United States when I was 5 years old, and Houston, TX has been my home ever since then. I am the only girl in my family out of 5, so growing up I leaned more towards guy things. From Marvel, Fast and Furious, & any guy-targeted cartoons — I basically felt like a tomboy growing up. Fast forward 13 years later I met my boyfriend who introduced me to the fitted community. With the help of him and Angelina (@shestylesfitteds) the obsession started and so did the collecting. Finding a way to express my multiple personalities through hats/outfits really helped me elevate my way of fashion and was able to dig more deeper into the why I keep collecting.
How many caps do you currently have in your collection?
I don’t really count the hats I have simply because I give a lot away or even sell them when I see fit, but if I had to guess I’d say I have around 120. I share a lot of my hats with my bf since we are the same head size (hugeeee bonus!) so collectively we have around 300.
Are there any caps that you’re still on the hunt for?
As of now, only hats that my friends have designed and are completely exclusive. Other than that, not really.
What cap have you been reaching for the most lately?
Now that I’ve gotten the opportunity to design a couple hats this year, I reach more for my own designs. It’s such a bittersweet feeling knowing that I designed them and not only is it me rocking them, but also hundreds of people. I really hope that anyone who is part of this amazing community could get an opportunity like I have.
